I was born and raised in Tohoku, Japan where the awful earthquake and Tsunami hit hard.

I'm a Canadian now and safe in Ottawa, but this disaster deeply saddens me.  I know that most of people outside of Japan have never heard of the Tohoku region in Japan.  And now you may have seen the pictures of Tohoku only in ruins, but there are really lovely and peaceful small towns and villages in this region. 

Tohoku is not an exciting big urban area or a high-tech futuristic land you may imagine as Japan. Instead, Tohoku has many beautiful high mountains and rugged, dynamic coastlines.  Lined with lush green landscapes and clean rivers, towns in Tohoku are lovely and endearing.  Farming and fisheries are the traditional way of life.  The people are humble, quiet and hard-working.  They are shy but once you get know them, they are the warm and kind.  They are the heart and backbone of Japan.

We always knew  there could be a big earthquake one day, but Mother Nature outdid herself this time.  Please help Tohoku people.
